It's Reiki Time in Salem
After 6 week on the new journey to good health, my progress has slowed down somewhat. Was going to the Chirpractor three days aweek with two treatments each visit. I have to say I believe it has helped a great deal.. Since Rome wasn't built in a day, returning to good health and balance won't be done in a day either. So one day at a time. I have to say, If I hadn't had Chiropractic before I went to Salem, OR I would not had made it. I hadn't traveled in 3 yrs, and had forgotten how exhausting and painful it can be. This getting older doesn't really help much either. n However, went to Salem to visit Leslie, and we spent 4 days giving eachother Reiki, and my goodness did that help these old bones and muscles. It also motivated me to come home and continue self Reiki, with lots of Hail Mary's with it. So there we have it,, Now,, I have to learn to eat gluten free, and that means cooking. OH YUK!!! It's times like this when I miss having a friend to cook with. Just one more thing to feel sorry for myself about. Also,, having a difficult time staying positive, because I lost a dear dear friend. Maxine was 96, and a wonderful woman who helped everyone around her to stay upbeat. RIP my dear old friend.

Should I stay or should I go?
So as I mentioned in the first addition, I was informed I needed comprehensive chiropractic to regain my health. I had gone to dinner with two other friends, to hear a presentation from Dr. Phil regarding the method they use at Exodus in Farragut, TN. Because Dr Phil's presentation made such good sense to me, I made an appointment to go in, have the ex rays, emg, and see about the care plan.
Of course I was no newbie when it came to chiropractic, I'd been seeing another Chiropractor for about 10 yrs on and off, who used the manipulation method. Snap, Crackle, Pop. This method was great, and helped me to be able to golf, and work out three days a week. I was in great shape, however my health was deteriorating by the year. I wasn't taking care of me,the physical, myself, the emotional, and I, the spiritual.. We need all three for balance. Me the physical was ok. Myself, the emotional was running from myself, and not looking inside very often. The I, the spiritual was there,, but going nowhere. Not growing, not active, just hanging there like a limp noodle..
To make matters worse, my hearthrob, hubby, soulmate, became terminally ill. Now the real stress begins.. I won't go into the gory details. Suffice to say in 2005, Tony was hospitalized 6 times, and I had bypass surgery. Two weeks after I had surgery, Tony was hospitalized again. We spent 8 hrs in the ER, Tony in bed, and Muwa sitting in the chair next to him, with a heart pillow held to my chest, wishing he would move over, and let me get in the bed also. NOT a very healthy situation, for me, myself, and I. Not to mention Tony was in very bad shape this time. Bless his heart, it took 17 more months of care, and he lost his battle, anyway. I went to pieces, and spent the next 4 yrs subconciously trying to decide if I was going to join him. Hence the health failed even further. More to come
Until next time, let the sunshine in

Introduction to Exodus
So it's been brought to my attention that if I want to regain my health, I'm going to have to take better care of myself. My neighbor Sally invited me to attend a free dinner and presentation by Dr Pete from Exodus Chiropractic in Farragut, TN. Sure thing,, it's free, at a great restaurant, so I happily accepted.
The evening was very, very nice. Sally, myself, and another neighbor Judy(who just turned 60) decided to make it a Judy birthday celebration on Dr. Pete.. No strings attached.. Hot Dog.. free dinner, great food, nice evening. Little did I know, this evening ended up to be one of the most interesting, informative evenings I've spent in the last 5 yrs or so.
Dr. Pete's presentation was excellent. His approach to treatment through chiropractic is to take the stess off of the DURA, (The membrane that covers the brain, and surrounds the spinal column.)Explanation: when the DURA is stressed it becomes taught, and brittle, much like a rubberband that is stretched too much. When the DURA is stressed, it causes blistering on the spinal column, which causes a short in the electical flow, from the brain to the cells of the body, and signals are not received properly. Consequently, the cells of the various organs affected, won't reproduce properly, replacing unhealthy cells, as the body is created to do..) The result of this process allows the body to become imbalanced, and all kinds of illness can occur.
In my case, heart disease, diabetes, depression, poor eyesight, constant pain in my muscles and numbness in hands, high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, not to mention CMT, Char co Marie Tooth disease,, one of the many muscular dystrophy's. Each one of these maladies has yukky symptoms of it's own.Ultimately, feeling crappy all the time. In constant pain somewhere, and my favorite,, chronic fatigue. All of which is a BUMMER, and not fun, therefore life is becoming a very BIG drag.
My 60's are fast becoming the worst decade of my life. NOT GOOD, NOT FUN. I don't mind aging.. as long as I can maintain Independence, and freedom. Poor health is the fastest way the elderly WILL loose independence and freedom. My worst fear is the inability to care for myself, and have to live in long term care. Having worked in one of the best facilities I've ever seen, showed me how dehumanizing it is to loose independence and freedom.. No matter what facility one lives in.
Sooooooooooo,, it was very apparent to me,, I needed to give Exodus a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'd been receiving chiropractic care for almost 15 years, and my health wasn't getting any better,, but they were just trying to realign my spine,, and not addressing the issue of stress relief to the DURA. Dr Pete's approach made more sense to me,, since Reiki is so very similar, and I've been second level Reiki practitioner for 4 yrs now,, (Have to admit, not regularly) and no self Reiki for 3 yrs.
As I said in the beginning,, a new attitude, and a more proactive approach to improve my health is absolutely essential to maintain my independence and freedom.
So there was nothing more to do,,than make an appt to visit Exodus for further information, and education. More to come.
Until the next time, let the sunshine in,
